Toronto, ON – August 11, 2025 – As Canada’s leadership in isotope innovation continues to grow, clear and compelling communication has become essential to ensuring transparency, advancing partnerships, and shaping public understanding. The Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC) is pleased to welcome Big Red Oak as its newest member, bringing industry-specific expertise in strategic marketing and creative communications to the isotope ecosystem space.
Founded in 2005 and based in Toronto, Big Red Oak is a full-service agency that specializes in nuclear and clean energy storytelling. The firm has supported communications initiatives across the Canadian nuclear ecosystem, including campaign strategy, stakeholder engagement, brand development, content creation, and change communications. Their work spans from public education to corporate brand elevation, often translating complex scientific concepts into accessible, high-impact messaging.
Big Red Oak has played a visible role in highlighting Canada’s contributions to the global isotope supply chain. Their campaigns have helped raise awareness of isotope-enabled innovations such as Bruce Power’s production of Cobalt-60 for sterilization, Lutetium-177 for targeted radiotherapy, and emerging applications of yttrium-90 and molybdenum-99. Through branding efforts for initiatives like Ontario’s Nuclear Advantage and Conexus, Big Red Oak has helped reframe nuclear medicine and energy as pillars of Canada’s innovation economy. They have provided direct support to CNIC-led initiatives such as the Isotopes for Hope podcast and CNIC Summits, capturing and shaping key communications which helped highlight sector milestones and deepen public engagement.
“In a complex field like isotopes, compelling storytelling is essential to building support and raising awareness,” said James Scongack, Chair of the CNIC. “Big Red Oak’s expertise ensures that the advances made across our sector are communicated clearly and meaningfully to all Canadians, whether through policymakers, healthcare leaders, or public conversations that build awareness and confidence in the important role of isotopes.”
“The Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council is doing extraordinary work with dedication, thoughtfulness, and real purpose. We’ve been proud to help bring those efforts into the spotlight and continue to support the CNIC’s mission to connect science with the public in a clear and meaningful way,” said Tyrell Lisson, Managing Director of Big Red Oak.
By joining the CNIC, Big Red Oak strengthens our ability to advocate for long-term isotope strategies that resonate with policymakers, health professionals, and communities. Their membership reflects our commitment to uniting technical, policy, and communications leaders in shaping the future of Canada’s isotope sector.
