TORONTO – November 13, 2020 – Bucephalus Consulting, a thought leader in the world of nuclear power and an emerging thought leader on isotopes, has agreed to join the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council to advance its advocacy and education agenda.
Bucephalus Consulting has been involved in the nuclear industry for more than 20 years with consulting experience and in-depth knowledge of business management, marketing and sales. A long-time advocate of nuclear power as a secure and environmentally sensitive source of energy, Bucephalus Consulting has worked for business-to-business service companies within the nuclear services, waste management and radiopharmaceutical sectors in the United Kingdom and Canada.
“We are delighted to work with the CNIC to support its efforts and provide the thought-leading research and analysis to support its education and advocacy campaigns,” said Neil Alexander, Principal Consultant, Bucephalus Consulting. “Our firm is a strong champion of the Canadian Isotope sector and pleased to lend our expertise to support this long underrepresented sector.”
For more than 60 years, Canada has been a leader globally in the research, development and production of medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals. For more than six decades, Canadians have been at the forefront in fighting cancer and keeping hospitals around the world clean and safe.
Today, more than 10,000 hospitals use medical isotopes for sterilization, diagnostic imaging and cancer treatment. The world has always counted on Canada, but the fragility of our efforts has threatened the critical supply of these materials before.
“Canada’s nuclear isotope program pioneered a new era in cancer-fighting treatments and research and development using isotopes. Without champions, however, Canada and its provinces risk ceding that leadership role,” said James Scongack, Chair of the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council. “We need partners like Bucephalus Consulting which will help promote this industry while also providing the critical thought leadership and analysis necessary to inform policy makers and decision makers at all levels of government.”
This year, the CNIC is focused on bridging these public and private coalitions into demonstrable results for Canadians, searching for new life-saving cancer treatments. Heading into 2021, the CNIC will continue to promote public awareness about the use and benefits of medical/industrial isotopes and radiation technologies, and work with government stakeholders to ensure that the public policy landscape promotes innovation and supports the increased proliferation of medical and industrial isotope uses.
