On January 12th, the CNIC team had the pleasure of touring the facilities of one of our valued member organizations, Isologic Innovative Radiopharmaceuticals (Isologic), in Burlington, Ontario, for an in-depth look at their radiotracer production processes.
Onsite, Frank Maiorino, VP of Commercial Operations and Carols Fachada, Director of Operations, guided us through their production rooms and offices that clearly demonstrate the attention to detail and care that Isologic dedicates to preparing life-saving imaging and therapy doses.

Isologic is a true national provider. All of its products are exclusively made to serve Canadian patients, with 100% of production going to hospitals and clinics across the country. Founded in 2015, Isologic has now grown to supply hundreds of shipments containing life-saving radiopharmaceuticals to facilities across Canada each day, sometimes multiple times per day.
Its fleet of 86 vehicles is certified by Transport Canada and achieved 99.6% on-time delivery rate in 2026. It also optimizes routing and consolidates deliveries to maximize efficiency and reduce environmental impact while 30% of its vehicles are hybrid or electric, with a goal of 100% by 2030. Leveraging this capacity on a daily basis, Isologic ensures that all 2,100+ radiopharmaceutical doses reach the 230 health care facilities they serve nationwide. Over the course of a year, Isologic ships about 100,000 containers to ultimately support more than 600,000 Canadian patient scans.

The CNIC was pleased to join Isologic’s experts for a tour of their cutting-edge radiopharmacy lab, where skilled technologists prepare SPECT and PET doses under the strictest quality controls. We saw firsthand the automated dose dispensers and grade A fume hoods in action. The Isologic team explained their comprehensive training and SOPs, which ensures doctors and patients can trust that each dose’s quality is consistent and sterile. In addition, Isologic offers comprehensive internal training programs to ensure staff are fully qualified in aseptic technique, quality assurance and radiochemistry. Along the loading dock, we had the opportunity to handle Isologic’s heavy lead “pig” containers – the shielded canisters that protect each dose syringe during travel to healthcare facilities.
Recognizing the important role that Isologic plays in sustaining Canada’s diagnostic imaging and treatment capacity, we were interested to learn about the mechanisms in place to mitigate any shortage and impacts on patients. In 2022, during a global Technetium-99 shortage, Isologic stepped in to supply doses to more than 20 hospitals outside its regular distribution network, ensuring patients could continue to receive urgent, life-saving diagnostic scans—a clear demonstration of Isologic’s patient-first commitment.
On behalf of the CNIC, we extend our sincere thanks to Frank Maiorino, Carlos Fachada, and the entire Isologic team for hosting us and showing us around their facility. Isologic’s passion for patients, innovation, and reliability is evident, and their contributions strengthen Canada’s isotope supply chain. We look forward to continuing our work with Isologic to advance access to care in Canada and improve patient outcomes.
