Power Generation Integrated Joins the CNIC, Bringing Decades of Nuclear Engineering and Isotope Excellence

Toronto, ON – June 20, 2025 – The Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC) is pleased to welcome Power Generation Integrated (PGI) as its newest member. PGI is a Canadian engineering consultancy specializing in nuclear systems integration and advanced energy technologies. With decades of experience advancing nuclear infrastructure and isotope innovation in Canada and internationally, PGI brings a critical systems-level perspective to the isotope ecosystem in securing and expanding Canada’s isotope production capabilities.

Headquartered in Toronto, PGI has made longstanding contributions to Canada’s nuclear energy and isotope landscape. PGI’s expertise spans system design, technical consulting, and integration planning for nuclear infrastructure that directly supports isotope production and application. Their work with CANDU reactors, small modular reactors (SMRs), and emerging technologies like fusion includes assessments and planning that directly contribute to the ongoing reliability of facilities critical to medical isotope production. Projects at sites such as Darlington, Bruce Power, and Pickering, each of which plays a role in Canada’s nuclear medicine and isotope supply chain, highlight PGI’s importance not just to energy systems, but to the operational resilience of isotope-enabling infrastructure. PGI supports a wide range of international clients including work in the United States, United Kingdom, and India, contributing to reactor development, infrastructure planning, and technical advisory services on a global scale.

PGI’s technical consulting also supports emerging infrastructure and application pathways for medical and industrial isotopes, bringing a growth perspective to the sector. PGI’s advisory roles on reactors, cyclotrons, and accelerators support infrastructure and planning related to the production and distribution of isotopes, which are critical tools in global cancer treatment and device sterilization. Their integrated approach to clean energy and isotope systems positions them as a strong contributor to the CNIC’s goal of reinforcing national supply chains and scaling next-generation technologies.

“PGI’s systems integration expertise brings critical depth to the CNIC as we work to strengthen every link in Canada’s isotope supply chain,” said James Scongack, Chair of the CNIC. “Their practical approach to infrastructure and innovation supports our shared mission to advance nuclear medicine and clean energy solutions.”

By joining the CNIC, PGI becomes part of a network of over 110 organizations united by a shared commitment to ensuring Canada remains a world leader in medical isotope production. Their addition also enhances the CNIC’s strategic capacity in systems engineering and provides valuable perspective on how infrastructure planning, reactor deployment, and technological innovation intersect with isotope delivery.

“Joining the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council is a natural extension of PGI’s enduring mission to advance Canada’s nuclear infrastructure and global leadership in isotope production. For over three decades, our work has focused on integrating the systems that enable both secure, low-carbon energy and the life-saving isotopes relied upon by medicine and industry,” said Vinod Chugh, founder and president of PGI.

“As the worlds of energy, health care, and advanced technology converge, we’re proud to bring a strategic, systems-level lens to the CNIC’s mission. Together, we aim to reinforce the reliability, resilience, and reach of Canada’s isotope supply chain—ensuring it remains a pillar of innovation and global collaboration for decades to come.”

As the global market for isotopes expands, the CNIC and its members continue to work across sectors to strengthen Canada’s role in this critical field. PGI’s membership reflects the collaborative spirit and deep expertise that define Canada’s approach to innovation, safety, and patient impact.
